La réception nationale d’un véhicule est une homologation à portée nationale. Il peut s’agir d’une réception nationale par type de petite série qui doit être effectuée conformément à la directive européenne 2007/46/CE. Elle concerne des véhicules dont le nombre commercialisé est limité. Cette réception nationale par type de petite série est valide dans le pays ayant homologué le véhicule, mais peut être acceptée dans les autres pays membres de l’Union Européenne.
La réception nationale effectuée conformément à l’arrêté du 19 juillet 1954 concerne uniquement les véhicules pour lesquels une réception communautaire n’est pas obligatoire. Il s’agit notamment des machines agricoles (MAGA, MIAR, REA) et des véhicules spéciaux comme les petits trains touristiques par exemple. Ce type de réception nationale est par conséquent uniquement valable sur le territoire national.
Les demandes de réception nationale doivent être faite auprès de la DREAL ou la DRIEE (en Ile-de-France). Le demandeur doit respecter un cahier des charges concernant les prescriptions techniques pour l’obtention de la réception nationale. Ce cahier des charges est défini par l’arrêté du 19 décembre 2016.
